This was to prevent crashing on 32bit gmod, but since me and my server's users use 64bit is there any way to turn this restriction off?
You can temporarily disable restrictions in the settings tab. 64 bit had nothing to do with the limit, but instead there was a vertex limit beyond which the engine would just up and die.
