For the record this a preset issue and should have really been reported in the preset repo.
Do you mean https://github.com/simonpoole/beautified-JOSM-preset ? The word "civic" / "cvic" doesn't seem to appear in that repo (at least according to github search)
Wouldn't it be nice if GitHub search worked at all?
I'm confused why it's marked as deprecated also. The wiki doesn't say it's deprecated, it has 181,000 uses, and I can't think of a better tag for a library building side from maybe "public"
building=civic is an USA/iDism and a synonym for the original building=public.
Maybe so but it seems to have the same global distribution and nearly the same chronology
