Any chance of getting this to PyPI? Thanks

Yes. It's definitely something to be done. I didn't want to do it with first releases, not knowing what would be the stability of the specifications.

The latest version (0.0.3) is already packaged for easier install (with setup script).
I add this to my todo list. Any deadline on your side ?

Not really any deadlines. I just use it in django-bitid and It's the only missing part for it to work out-of-the-box. I'll add a notice about the spec being a draft.

I've just uploaded pybitid on PyPI. It's v0.0.4 (no modification except a few things for PyPI packaging). May you check if everything seems ok on your side when you try to install it with pip ? I've done a quick check but it's my first package uploaded to PyPI and a double-check seems welcome.
