Zap desktop showing blank screen on startup

Zap Desktop is unable to connect to a node on my local network, it hangs at launch on a blank grey screen. Only going to file>preferences does anything. File>open is unresponsive.
re-installing won't let me create or connect to a new wallet, just a blank screen with no message.
Ride the lightning and Zap mobile are able to connect with my node, even over TOR. This blank startup hanging issue was present before and was resolved for a while with Zap 0.7.6, but has returned, apparently with the latest lnd 0.14.2

macOS 10.15.7 latest version of Zap installed v.0.7.6-beta
Please can you try with the latest release, https://github.com/LN-Zap/zap-desktop/releases/tag/v0.7.7-beta. Thanks.
I too am witnessing this, even on v0.7.7
