Option "Bookmark thread on post" doesn't work when manually marking post as own

I sometimes post from web browser and would still like to keep up with a thread from the app later. Currently this requires marking a post as my own and also manually bookmarking the thread to later get updates from thread watcher. Ideally the flow would be: Post from browser -> Mark post as my own from app -> Thread automatically gets bookmarked + put on thread watcher -> I get future post updates. Not sure if this behavior change would piss people off enough to warrant a separate toggle for it but I think it'd probably be fine.
