Issue Processing Abbreviations.json with Publication Titles Including "The"

There seems to be something amiss with Zotero's use of abbreviations.json when a publication title includes the word "the". Titles appear not to get matched properly if there's a "the" involved as shown in this demo. The issue persists in the current Zotero beta (5.0.97-beta.63+035aac30f).

Or is this a case of user error and I'm just not seeing what I'm doing wrong?

Can you post a CSL JSON file with an affected item and your abbreviations.JSON file?

Sure. Here's the abbreviations.json file, and here's a sample item.

Both have an extra .txt extension appended so that they'd upload to github. If I can provide anything further, please feel free to ask.

@bwiernik, would you happen to have had the chance to see if you get the same issue with abbreviating titles with "the"?

I know you have plenty going on (and then some). So, not to pester—just curious about what you may have found. More than happy to troubleshoot or provide whatever else I can, though I'm afraid looking at how abbreviations are getting processed is beyond me. :-(
