Sharing to Facebook on a mobile device loses the page URL

When I click the Facebook share button on desktop I get the Facebook sharing page (sharer.php) in a popup window. However when I do the same on a mobile device, Facebook simply displays an unpopulated text field with a "Share on your Timeline" prompt.
The desktop URL is https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.domain.com%2Fdirectory
The mobile URL I'm redirected to is https://m.facebook.com/sharer.php?sid=0&referrer=social_plugin&_rdr
