Pasting images doesn't have any effect

Behaviour
Copy either an image file, or image content copied from an image editor.
None of the below pasting methods are working for me.
Conversely (just to show I am able to paste images from the clipboard on the client machine), the "installed plugins" list below was pasted from the clipboard directly into Github without a problem.
Paste methods
- right click > paste
- [ctrl]+[v]
- [shift]+[insert]
No change in the content in the pad, no link appears, no image appears, no errors showing on the server console.
Drag-dropping an image file from the O/S provides the following type of link, but no image:
file:///C:/Users/[user]/Pictures/[image filename]

My guess is there is some kind of conflict with another plugin - I'm not familiar with the plugin architecture, so I'm not sure how they well they play together...

Hello,
I have the same problem:
After Ctrl-V the grafic is shortly displayed and then the grafic removed it again.
What reason could there be?
