Should hardware monitoring be on by default?

With the introduction of GPU monitoring hardware monitoring becomes quite desirable to enable. However, right now that means adding the --store-hw-info flag, but this will cause older versions of prmon to abort (unknown option), which is not so nice.

So I think it would be better to enable this by default (and make the option available to suppress it).
