Upload rate stubbornly at zero with Grase Hotspot

mrakgr opened this issue · comments

On the new computer I am trying to install Grase Hotspot on, after figuring out how to make Grase use p3p1 and p1p1 instead of eth* by renaming the entries in etc/config/chilli, as per this post here I still cannot make it work properly.

Regular surfing through the hotspot works fine and at max speed, but the upload rate is near zero meaning that I cannot sent pictures with mail and such. I am not a networking expert so I do not have any idea of how to proceed from here and some of the stuff on editing configuration files on the net is starting to make me dizzy.

Could anybody give me pointers on what I could try?

I am using the Grase 1.6 stable with Ubuntu 14.04. I can confirm that this problem manifests on Ubuntu 12.04 as well.

I'll try reinstalling Linux again and trying Grase 1.5v from the nightly repo.

Grase 1.5 did not work, but trying it on the laptop did. Ugh. So this issue is now void as the hotspot works. Sorry about this.

Even though this is not my job, I'll learn my lesson and go through the Network Administrator's Guide so the next time something like this is thrust upon me I have more options than just 'reinstall Linux'.

Actually, the person who was testing it (not me) forgot to turn off the wireless connection, so the report of upload working was fake. Let me reopen this. I'll work slowly through the book for the next few days. My biggest problem is currently that my Linux knowledge is only at the level of knowing how to copy a file from the command line, so I'll start by dealing with that.

If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it.
