Add received files to Recent Files list

Describe your request
When I send files from mobile to desktop, I often want to do something with them. I need to navigate to the designated download directory (default ~/Downloads), maybe sort by most recent on top, then access them.
Proposed solution
It would be great if downloaded files were added to the Recent Files view that appears in the Files app and other file open dialogs. Applications e.g. Gedit show Recent Files by default when the Open dialog appears for the first time.
In GTK I understand this is done using the RecentManager https://developer-old.gnome.org/gtkmm-tutorial/stable/sec-recentmanager.html.en . I don' know how it would be done from a gnome shell extension.
Alternatives
My current solution to being able to find the transferred files more easily is to create a dedicated directory just for gsconnect transfers e.g. ~/downloads/kdeconnect
GSConnect version
