Feature description

Years ago I installed the original Simple Dialer app on my grandmother's phone, and it was the only dialer app that she adapted to. There has, however, been one single frustration since then which occurs when she is trying to end a call and accidentally hits the buttons on the Android navigation bar, sometimes causing the App to stay in the background while the call is still in progress, which always leaves her confused and not knowing what to do to end the call.

I suggested this to the original developer, but he refused without any explanation and without manners (seeing other issues at the time, it was clear to me that it was his way and I even also found reviews on the Play Store complaining about it), so I just let it go and stopped following the project, but I kept the Apps installed through the F-Droid builds.

Just by chance I discovered today that the Apps (or rather, their user base) was sold and that this fork was created, so I'm opening this up for consideration if it could be a welcome improvement. Personally, I have never seen any stock Dialer app that displays such buttons during a call. As a side note, the Always display incoming calls on full screen option always left me with the impression that it should also hide these buttons, but it doesn't, and I don't know if it's a bug or not, as I wasn't following or reporting anything to the original project for the reason that I mentioned above.

Why do you want this feature?

There is no way around the problem with just with the proximity sensor option as it occurs when she tries to end the call but touches in the wrong area, but as it is not that frequent she never memorized that the call can also be ended via the Android status bar if the App goes to the background.

Additional information

Phone: Samsung Galaxy A01, Android 12 (it was also like this in Android 10 and 11).
