contacts are shown as offline when clicked

When I click on online contacts they immediately are shown as offline (plus a little text just above the message box: 'contact' is gone). In the header bar, there is still a green circle and in fact the contacts are also all online.
contact is gone - is just the default chat state, why you think it means offline?
because the circle in the contact list changes from green to gray (as if
the contact would be offline) and "contact is gone" sound to me like
"contact is not online anymore but has gone to do something else."
