FUE5BASE / FUE5

FUE5 is a fan-made project with the goal to see what would Factorio look like and behave in 3D. This project has no affiliation with the official Factorio game.

so no gameplay, this was essentially a cinematic project, any plans to make it into a fully playable game?

basically it's all in the title.

What makes factorio a fun game is it's optimization. Satisfactory is living proof that a well coded and scalable (therefore optimized) factorio-like is possible in unreal engine 5.

This project could be a full fledged game but not being built out of blueprints.

If that isn't the intent, then that bears clearing up because the youtube video is giving everyone the wrong idea.

To be fair, it is explicitly called out in the README:

Is there any gameplay?
No. All you can do is to fly around your base and toy around with existing assets and UE construction and event blueprints. For those with experience in UE there is a lot of fun stuff you can do with the blueprints we've designed for the belt, rail and logistic systems.

Unfortunately replicating Factorio is virtually impossible. The developers at Wube spend almost a decade perfecting their engine and it's internals are closely guarded and trademarked secret, therefore we decided to do the next best thing as a proof of concept of sorts.

To be fair, it is explicitly called out in the README:

yeah that's... exactly what I was saying. There is a stark difference between the youtube video and the github page. and I wish the youtube video would feature the same disclaimer.

Unfortunately replicating Factorio is virtually impossible.

agree. but again... not impossible. see Satisfactory, Dyson Sphere Program (& virtually every other factorio-like out there)

The YouTube video is a "trailer"/"movie" it does not say in any kind of form that it's full game or that it's playable.

Also - you are welcome to start implementing all systems and features that Factorio currently offers :)

i wish i knew better how to make a game in UE, i would at least have tried to make a prototype of a 3d Factorio
