So I think that the plan is to make a new osx keybinding syntax file, with right option being the compose character, then swap this with the caps lock.
- Install Karabiner https://karabiner-elements.pqrs.org/
- Let Karabiner have complete control over your computer
- In the Karabiner app, add a rule mapping caps lock to F13 because apparently this is too much to ask for in settings.
- Paste the generated dict file to ~/Library/KeyBindings/DefaultKeyBinding.dict (todo)
