Scanning the vaccination QR code: import from the photo library (iOS)

Hi

I have successfully imported the QR code provided by the Spanish government. However the QR code was sent as a pdf file, which I had to print and then to scan. It would be convenient, to make a screenshot of the QR code, which is saved in the photo library and then import that QR. Could that be implemented please?

Totally agree. QR codes delivered as PDF from eg. Impfzentrum or other sources need to be printed or scanned from another screen (mobile, tablet, desktop etc).

So you either require a printer or a second trusted device from where you can scan your own QR code. This makes it uncomfortable and could be easily solved by allowing import via the following additional ways:

photos library
clipboard (holding a screenshot of the QR code)
file / document import (Apple „Files“ App, Owncloud, Nextcloud and other file sources which are integrating themselves in the „Files“ app)

I guess btw. this is an issue on Android too and not only on iOS.

Hi :) Such functionality is not currently planned. However the certificate can e.g. also be scanned at any time from the paper printout of the QR code or another smartphone. Best regards!

Importing certificates from a file containing a QR code is available from the Corona-Warn-App since version 2.11, released on October 6, 2021 (see https://www.coronawarn.app/en/blog/2021-10-06-cwa-version-2-11/).

Currently this is available for Android, and the next CWA version 2.12 should have the functionality included for iOS as well.

Like the CovPass App, the Corona-Warn-App is published by the Robert Koch Institute.

Well no. I have this version installed, when I use Scan Certificate *only* the internal Corona Covid scanner pops up, showing the screen for scanning there is *no* import functionality. The open file option, as shown in the blog, I cannot see on my iPhone SE, first generation. I will send a bug report.

That is *not* the same. Sorry but this attitude: «feature is not planned without any explanation», is not helpful I frankly don't understand why the team is so slow in implementing features that make our life easier!!!!

I can't give you any further explanation. The client does not want to implement this feature and gives other possibilities like e.g. scann from the paper printout of the QR code or another smartphone

by client, you refer to the developer team? ok, thanks for the clarification, too sad.
this decision will not enhance the popularity of this app, sorry to say that, scanning should be easy

it does not make much sense for an App to rely on a print out document, that is a bit absurd.

Sorry, when I first posted the information I omitted the information that the functionality is not in CWA iOS yet (2.11), but is planned for the next version 2.12. So far the functionality is only available on Android.

If you go directly to the post #100 (comment) in the web view, you will see I made a correction one minute after the original post.

So the „solution“ would be to delete CovPass App and switch to CWA once the new version is released for iOS too as CWA is capable of importing QRs from images/pdfs?

Right, this is what crossed my mind first too (but I was to polite or to shy to say 😅 ) It seems to me another, sad, example wasting resource. First you implement something and then leave important features out.....

By "client", I guess @jleufgen refers to the RKI. They, as the client (who pays for the development) have the last word what is implemented and what not.

Ok, so the RKI wants two App to be implemented, Corona Warn and Cov App, now only one, Corona Warn, has that feature the other not. So I would say maybe the Cov App does not make too much sense now?

I think CVPass becomes obsolete .....
