I have few queries:
Currently I have made a seperate file and made the changes there. Should I change the original resource.html and commit the changes or should I commit the seperate file and you will check and change accordingly?

You need to do the changes in the same file. Don't add any unnecessary files.
Your changes should be according to the design.
