Firmware download doesn't work if iPhone was never connected to computer

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connect new iPhone to new Mac
2. Try activating in iNdependence

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The program says it is unable to download the firmware. This is simply because
the "iPhone
Software Updates" folder doesn't exist in ~/Library/iTunes. Creating the
folder manually, then
retrying commences the download. The program should probably create the folder
itself, if it
doesn't yet exist.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.4 b5, Leopard

As I said in the bug report:
"iPhone Software Updates" folder doesn't exist in ~/Library/iTunes
