"Add to calendar" bug with Microsoft Outlook calendar

duffy-james opened this issue · comments

When users visit event links on our website, there is an option to add the event to a virtual calendar through the "add to calendar" button in the sidebar:

The option appears to be working fine for Google users, but we had a Microsoft Outlook user report that, when they clicked on the button, the event "start" and "end" dates appeared to be one hour later. In the event, instead of seeing the correct start and end time of 9:30-10:30 a.m., they were seeing 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Get access to a Microsoft Outlook account / calendar
  2. Go to this event link
  3. Click the "add to calendar" button in the sidebar
  4. Confirm the event is in fact showing the wrong start and end time in the calendar

Other notes:

  • The event in question was originally created in 2021 and updated in 2022. When the event was updated, the start and end time was changed from 10:30-11:30 a.m. to 9:30-10:30 a.m. This is probably related to the bug, but there was nothing in the metadata that I seemed to be able to update to fix it.

Closing ticket; now accounted for in Jira
