China asymptomatic cases revision

ZauberViolino opened this issue · comments

China NHC stopped its asymptomatic-cases report on 2022-12-14. (See #6359.) However, on 12-14, some provinces reported their data, so maybe we can add them to "Unknown China."

And after that, some provinces reported that a few asymptomatic cases turned to symptomic cases. We should exlude them from "Unknown, China" to avoid double-counting. Note that some provinces didn't provide that kind of data, double-counting is inevitable.

I will provide sources if needed.

2022-12-16 to 12-18 no changes on asymptomatic cases were reported. I stopped collecting data after that.

When you mention that you stop collecting data after 18 December 2022, what about this update on the parallel issue regarding China's overall reporting having an update from 12 January 2023?

@pwdel I meant that I stopped collecting data of asymptomatic cases on a provincal level. The odds of the figure was to change after Dec. 18 is relatively low.

The release you quoted was about hospitalized cases and severe cases et al. This issue is only related to asymptomatic cases in China, because China CDC did not count the asymptomatics into confirmed cases.

OK, understood.
