Right now all items must be loaded on items/browse in order for the apps to download the full listing. This makes for a very heavy load in the browser, especially on mobile devices (and even over wifi it's a bit much). When there are only a few dozen items, it's not such a big deal, but it gets progressively worse as projects scale upward (e.g. ClevelandHistortical.org must load almost 400 items on one page. That's a lot of images and database calls. Not sure of the best solution for this since it will require looking closely at the client apps and the JSON plugins.
