xdmod ticket #30382 why are domains always aggregated across resources

OpenStack has a default domain that occurs (by default) when you install openstack. You can add other domains as well.

In the case that I am looking at, I would want to consider the default domain on different resources to be different domains - but might want to consider the same named domaine on different resources to be either the same domain or different domains.

Is there a way to do this in xdmod?

Hi Rob,

I don't think XDMoD is able to do all of this. If I understand correctly you want some domains, such as Default, that are named the same across resources to show up separately and you want some other domains with the same name across resources to show up as the same domain? Can you give me a more concrete example of the second part of your question?

By using the Metric Explorer tab, it should be possible to accomplish the first part of your question about having the default domain on different resources show up as different data points. For the metric you want to look at, you would need to select the Domain group by and then drill down again by selecting the Resource group by. The domain names would be the same but you should be able to distinguish the resource. The labels for the domain would be the same but should show as different data points on the chart with one for each resource.

For the second part, do you have some sort of criteria for deciding what domains you want to show as being the same domain across resources or as different domains across resources?

I'll think about this some more and see if there is something I can come up with.

Greg,

Thanks for the response. I think we can close this ticket for now.
