Enhancement Suggestion: Watermark/overlay/stationery - merge from template PDF

Two use cases:

  1. I have a letterhead which needs to go on PDFs sent to customers (or whoever) but when I print to the printer, I use preprinted stationery. Or prefer on blank to save ink.

Thus the source documents are designed without any of the letterhead elements

In this case the contents of the letterhead PDF page 1 wants to be placed in the background of the first page of the job; the contents of the letterhead page 2 be placed in the background of subsequent pages. For extra awsomeness, separate left/right pages possible

  1. Watermark CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT

template PDF page 1 in the background of every page of the job.

Bother of these would be achievable with some kind of "apply template PDF" option for the job - you'd want a list of recent files - or better still ,a list of profiles - Company Letterhead, Private Stationery, Draft, Confidential etc.

Options would be

  • first page comes from blank or page 1 (page N?) of template
  • subsequent pages from blank or page 1 or page 2 (so .. page N again) of template
  • template content is Behind or In Front Of document content

There might be some issues with landscape vs portrait - I'm not sure how you deal with mixed-orientation/mixed-page size jobs now; but they can happen. I don't think they'd be insurmountable, at worst the template document would need to provide portrait&landscape versions with some more options for selecting which page to use.

I don't think I would ever want to use the In Front Of option myself, but I can imagine possible uses for it.

I'd love to dig and help. Not possible right now. I can certainly help with testing

Unfortunately, I don't have enough time right now to develop this project. Maybe sometime later.

I'm so sorry!
