Is there a way to unlock a "permanently locked" sdcard?

My insticts says there is.. but I haven't dug this yet.
Any thoughts?
Hello,
Not officially as far as I know. It is well known many SD cards firmware
can be updated, so if you know how to run your own code on it I would
expect it to be possible to reverse the permanent lock.
