Spaces in contact telephone numbers

We are experiencing an issue where contact's telephone numbers are being imported from the iPhone contacts list with spaces. Those spaces are preventing the calls from going through. This also happens with the official linphone app on the play store. the spaces are being replaced with %20.
We are not having the same issues on the android version, the spaces are being stripped out.
