Nodeschool.io event in May

Nodeschool.io

In connection with the Web Rebels conference in Oslo in May, the Web Rebels organizer Trygve Lie, a long with githubber and nodeschooler Jessica Lord and javascripts own Gandalf the Gray, Max Ogden, will take a tour of Norway with a Nodeschool.io event. The plan is, after the Web Rebels conference, for Trygve, Jessica and Max to have nodeschool-events in Oslo, Bergen and in Trondheim. Here in Trondheim, we will help them organize!

Doing that, we'll need to do the following:

  • Find a venue
  • Find place to enjoy great beers afterwords
  • Get Food and Drinks for the evening?
  • Advertise the events
  • more?

We have a venue for the day: Norges Kreative Høgskole (thanks to @eirikbacker), where we've been previously. They have room that can hold the attendees, power and WiFi.

Some practical information already established:

  • Date: Sunday May 25th, 06:00pm (18:00)
  • Max attendees: 40. Impractical with more for this kind of event.
  • Cover/cost for attending: 100 NOK. To minimize dropouts / to maximize dedicated attendees.
  • Using EventBrite to handle attendees.

In the spirit of transparency and public organizing we post this issue here to be able to get ideas and help from potential attendees.

I am setting up the registration page for the event and I have some questions:

  • Is there something in particular we need to add in the confirmation email upon completing the ticket purchase? "Bring a laptop if you got one, if not you can team up with someone" is so far the only thing I have come up with.
  • I will make the registration go back to our landing page upon completion https://www.webrebels.org/tour, is that cool? In case you need to put up some additional info we can just do on that landing page
  • the price will be 100, but eventbrite charges 9 NOK and minus moms will be the amount available to you guys

For beers afterwords, there are only these possibilities in my mind:

I think Diskoteket could be a good choice, as they have new and several different types of Beers. Den Gode Nabo might be more accommodating for venue space, though.

@leftieFriele:

AFAIK there isn't any other information needed.

Sounds good to me. (The site looks good, by the way).

No worries. That's about 77 NOK in profit or for 40 attendees about 3080. Food should be somewhere around 2500. That gives ~500, which should be enough for stickers or something.

I'll post on Twitter and Meetup.com to allow people to plan ahead and set the date, but with signup set to TBA.

@leftieFriele: I'll just link from meetup.com to the WebRebels Tour page?

We aren't 100% on the dates yet and we have some adjustments to make to the landing page too. We should have the dates in a day or two, the same thing with the landing page. So if you could wait a couple of days it'd be great :)

Sure. We'll hold off until the date is set.

@leftieFriele Any updates on this?

We're very close to having everything settled as far as dates go.

.

Date for trondheim: 5/25/2014 - 18:00 - 22:00.
We will announce it all Monday 5th May, 12:00 CET on the twitters :)

I see there are only 7 people attending in Trondheim, we need to step up the propaganda machinery! :)

We have some "wheels in motion", but we agree, we need to step up.

In case you want to keep check on the people who's signed up I can send you the PDF of the guest list.
Also we the poster template you can use in case you need it:

We've also planning on creating a page for each of the events on https://www.webrebels.org/tour/. If you take picture and stuff you can link to them from that page. Just submit a PR and we'll deploy it.

Great! I can try to get some posters printed for the venue space. Getting to the room might be tricky the first time, so we can hang up some posters leading the way (in addition to having someone standing in the hall to open some doors.)

I'm also trying to alter the pizza order (ordered pizza for 7-8 o'clock) as we've gotten three more attendees yesterday.

As for the plan afterwards (read: beers) one of the only placed in Trondheim with good beer that is open on Sundays (Den Gode Nabo) doesn't take reservations after 8, but I spoke to her and she said it would most likely be available seats on Sunday night.

Its a wrap! https://www.webrebels.org/tour/bartcity

Thanks to all the involved 👍
