Potential Cascading World Generation

I've been having a lot of server lag on my modded server whenever i'm generating new terrain. The computer seems to be coping fine with the server usually, it's got plenty of ram and a decent enough cpu, it's only 2 of us on the server in total, not a lot of machines or thaumcraft stuff or anything that is causing much strain in the chunks we are based in and around. However when generating new chunks in the overworld, I had to change the maximum tick length from 1 minute to 2 because i had the server shut down from a tick taking more than one minute several times. Today when doing some more travelling (looking for an ender portal and flying and moving quickly), the server console mentioned this

[18:08:40] [Server thread/WARN] [FML]: Thaumcraft loaded a new chunk [-31, -71] in dimension 0 (overworld) while populating chunk [-30, -70], causing cascading worldgen lag.
[18:08:40] [Server thread/WARN] [FML]: Please report this to the mod's issue tracker. This log can be disabled in the Forge config.

I'm not sure how many extra chunks were loaded from this, but it could be a culprit for my issues with world gen.

the version i'm on is Thaumcraft-1.12.2-6.1.BETA26.jar which looks to be the latest version on curseforge.
