How to rebrand logo to match productname?

Hi,
Just to check, how could we rebrand logo to match our productname? By just modify logo.svg willl cause "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected 'version' (T_STRING) in logo.svg" when loading the first login page.
Hope that you could provide tutorial on this.
