They could be fetched via: https://github.com/prometheus/jmx_exporter - or purely programmatic by getting the jmx beans and exposing the values via prometheus.

also add the possibility to disable some metrics. As some of us are already using the JMX exporter thus there would be no reason to actually have stacked metrics from 1 app.
