Unable to search for terms with a slash, e.g. “Model I/O”

When attempting to search with a term that contains a slash, like “Model I/O”, irrelevant results appear and other improper encoding/decoding artifacts are present.

Searching with the text Model I/O results in:

• A URL ending with the query ?q=Model+I%2FO. (correct)
• The search field's text updated to Model I/O. (incorrect)
